Investigators of the MIA of Russia Inter-Municipal Division “Nazarovsky” completed the investigation and sent to court a criminal case against a local resident accused of a series of telephone frauds.

From March to July of this year, 18 residents of Nazarovo and 2 residents of Achinsk, who had suffered from the actions of offenders, filed statements with the duty-unit of the police. All the victims said that an unknown person called their phone number, introduced himself as a law enforcement officer and said that their son or grandson had been allegedly detained for a crime. The suspect convinced gullible pensioners that the issue could be settled for money. Only after the victims had already transferred the requested amount to the offender, did they realize that they had become a victim of fraud. The total material damage resulting from the criminal actions of the suspect exceeded 500 thousand rubles.

During the search operations the malefactor was identified and detained by police officers. The suspect turned to be a repeatedly convicted for committing property crimes, 52-year-old resident of Syzran.

Investigators of the MIA of Russia Inter-Municipal Division “Nazarovsky” initiated a criminal case on the grounds of a crime stipulated by part 2 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Fraud”. The sanction of this article presumes a punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of up to 5 years. The criminal case was sent to court.
