"Officers of General Directorate of Criminal Investigation of the Russian MIA together with the Criminal Investigation in the Eastern district of Moscow and the Russian FSB with the force support of SWAT "Rys'" Russian guard detained members of an organized group, suspected of kidnapping and extortion of money", said Russian MIA official representative Irina Volk.

In 2016, December the malefactors threatening to use of a gun and a knife kidnapped businessman, the citizen of Iran. In the area Schelkovskoe highway, Moscow, the victim was put in his car, taken to the territory of the garden association in the Noginsk, Moscow. There the kidnappers broke into one of the private houses and kept the victim by force, demanding for his release a ransom of 10 million rubles. They also took the victim's plastic cards and pins from them in order to withdrawal funds from the accounts later on.

A few days later, the victim took advantage of the inattention of the malefactors, released himself without any help and enlisted the assistance of the police.

Officers of Criminal Investigation Division in the course of their operational and investigative activities detained suspects in committing the crime. They were three natives of Central Asia at the age of 34-, 26- and 25-years-old. One of them was previously convicted. During the search there were seized a Russian Makarov pistol with VIN numbers filed off and a knife used as a weapon for committing a crime. In March this year, the orders of the crime were also detained.

In addition, another episode of unlawful activity of the group members was revealed. 2017, in the beginning of February he, along with his four accomplices, kidnapped a taxi driver from one of the transport companies. After putting a noose on the driver’s neck, the attackers seized the Toyota Camry car, which the victim used for carrying passengers. They held him in a private house in Elektrostal, Moscow region, where they broke through by breaking the door.

On the eve all, the accomplices of this crime were detained at various addresses in Moscow. According to the facts the IID of the ID of Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation in Moscow, EAD, criminal proceedings have been initiated on the element of crimes provided for by Part 2 of Art. 126, part 3 of Art. 163, part 2 of Art. 161 of the Criminal Code.

In relation to eight defendants, detention was chosen as a preventive measure. All detainees were on the territory of the Moscow region with violation of the migration legislation of the Russian Federation.

Further operational investigations and investigative actions are conducted, the detainees may be involved in a series of similar crimes.
