“The preliminary investigation established that the malefactors had involved a former employee of the organization dealing with real estate accounting and technical inventory in the housing thefts,” said Russian MIA official representative Irina Volk.
The accused had found socially disadvantaged people owning their own homes. Under various pretexts they had obtained copies of documents of title to the real estate and then had sold the victims' flats.
The malefactors' activities were suppressed by the police at the end of 2015. The total financial damage inflicted by the accused men's actions had exceeded 46 million rubles. The police consolidated 25 criminal cases.
In order to execute the sentence related to civil suits of the victims, upon the motion of the investigator, the court arrested the victims' flats for an amount of over 14 million rubles. Besides, the accused voluntarily compensated for the damage in the amount of 23 million rubles.
As a result of the accomplished investigation, 13 malefactors were charged with a range of crimes stipulated by Part 4 Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
