“Criminal investigation policemen of Police Division No. 4 of the Russian MIA Administration for Komsomolsk-on-Amur detained two locals suspected of illegal catching of aquatic biological resources,” said Russian MIA official representative Irina Volk.
The older of the two – 34-year old resident of Komsomolsk-on-Amur was previously convicted for property crimes, while his 23-year old accomplice has no prior convictions.
The police seized 6 pieces of sturgeon fish and 100 kilograms of sturgeon caviar. The men had no documents proving the lawfulness of the biological resources they had caught. The damage caused by the illegal activity had approximated 200,000 rubles.
In the course of the interrogation, the detained told the policemen that they had caught the confiscated biological resources themselves. All illegal products were delivered to a competent organization for custody. Restraint in the form of written undertaking not to leave and to behave properly was imposed on the suspects.
By now, a criminal case has been initiated on that fact based on essential elements of a crime stipulated by Part 1 Article 258.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
