Participants of the meeting discussed measures to combat the organized crime, terrorism and extremism. In addition, they discussed the customs cooperation and the fight against drug trafficking and illegal migration in the Baltic Sea region.
It was noted that in the fight against the international crime an extremely important role is played by joint efforts of all the countries of the region and further improvement of work aimed at facilitating the exchange of information between law enforcement agencies of European states.
Among other things, there were held numerous expert meetings at which national coordinators shared relevant information about the current operational activities in the Baltic Sea region and offered to discuss a number of specific initiatives.
The decisions taken by the meeting will form the basis of recommendations in the field of law enforcement, aimed at ensuring the security of the Baltic states.
The next calendar event, chaired by Russia, will be the annual strategic meeting of the Group of personal representatives of heads of governments of the Baltic Sea Region states. It will be held in Moscow from 24 to 25 November 2016.
