“The Duty Unit of the Russian MIA Administration for the Naro-Fominsky District received an application about a newborn lying in the apple garden on Golovina Street in Naro-Fominsk. Having arrived at the scene, the police found a baby covered with a T-shirt. The policemen reported of the incident to a medical institution, wrapped up the baby in the uniform and carried him to the police car to provide first medical aid,” said Russian MIA official representative Irina Volk.
As of the moment of the detection, the newborn had been lying on the ground for 11 hours. He had been born no more than 24 hours before.
In the course of the investigation and search operation, the police identified and detained a 35-year old native of the Republic of Mordovia suspected of that crime.
The Inquiry Division of the Russian MIA Administration initiated a criminal case based on essential elements of a crime stipulated by Article 125 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Abandonment in danger”. The sanction under this article provides for up to one-year imprisonment.
Restraint in the form of written undertaking not to leave was imposed on the malefactor.
At the moment, the newborn is in the inpatient department. His life is safe now.
