“Investigators of the General Investigation Administration of the Russian MIA General Administration for Moscow together with policemen of the Administration for Economic Security and Combating the Corruption of the Moscow police detained the woman suspected of having stolen over 10 million rubles allocated for the reconstruction of the memorial complex in Simferopol,” said Russian MIA official representative Irina Volk.
As was found by the police, the malefactor together with unidentified accomplices had concluded a contract on behalf of an entity having signs of a shell company for granite supply with a stone-processing enterprise. The material was intended for the reconstruction of the memorial complex in Simferopol dedicated to Nazi concentration camp victims. In compliance with the terms of the contract, the enterprise had transferred the funds to the company, yet the malefactors were not going to fulfill their obligations and misappropriated the money.
The Investigation Division of the Moscow police initiated a criminal case on that fact based on essential elements of a crime stipulated by Part 4 Article 159 “Fraud” of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
The woman suspected of the crime was detained. The court remanded her in custody. The police searched the detained woman's office and place of residence in Moscow and the Moscow Region and seized mobile telephones, flash cards, bank cards, tablets, personal computers, notebooks, as well as documents relevant for the criminal case investigation.
The police are now carrying out investigation measures aimed to identify the woman's accomplices in the unlawful activity.
