ISIS supporters were detained in Tver and Ingushetia by Russian MIA policemen together with FSB colleagues

“As a result of the investigation and search measures in Tver and the Republic of Ingushetia, policemen of the Russian MIA together with colleagues from the Russian FSB detained supporters of the ISIS terrorist organization outlawed in Russia,” said Russian MIA official representative Irina Volk.

Tver policemen and specialists of the Regional FSB Administration suppressed the activity of a clandestine terrorist cell whose members had recruited new members from among natives of the Central Asia Region in the interests of international terrorist organizations, including those acting in the Syrian Arab Republic.

The check of that terrorist group revealed that secret meetings of the cell members had been held in a rented apartment in Tver. Most suspects lived in it.

In the course of the search, the police found and confiscated a large number of extremist materials.

In Ingushetia, the law enforcement bodies detained two residents of village Ekazhevo of the Nazranovsky District. The young men had joined the ISIS through social networks and were soon going to go to Syria to participate in hostilities on the terrorists' side.

The investigation bodies initiated criminal cases against the men detained in Nazran and Tver according to Part 2 Article 205.5 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (participation in activities of a terrorist organization). The sanction under this article provides for imprisonment from five to ten years.
