Large channel of drug supply to Irkutsk Region was curbed by Russian MIA employees

“As a result of a special force raid, policemen together with the Russian FSB Administration for the Irkutsk Region curbed a large channel for supply of plant-derived drugs to the region. Fifteen kilograms of high-quality hashish were removed from illegal trafficking,” said Russian MIA official representative Irina Volk.

Policemen detained a 56-year old man on suspicion of drug transportation. The police searched his foreign-made car and found a bag with prohibited substances on the back seat. The sniffer dog detected several more packets hidden in the tire of the spare wheel.

The measures taken by the law enforcement bodies enabled to prevent distribution in the region of over 90,000 conventional smoking doses. According to the preliminary data, their total cost could have approximated 15 million rubles.

Investigators of Intermunicipal Administration “Bratskoye” of the Russian MIA initiated a criminal case on that fact based on essential elements of a crime stipulated by Part 3 Article 228 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Illegal carriage of narcotic drugs in an especially large amount”. The sanction under this article provides for up to 15-year imprisonment and a fine of up to 500,000 rubles. The court remanded the suspect into the custody.

At the moment, criminal investigation policemen are carrying out additional investigation operations aimed to find dealers and other persons involved in drug distribution.
