“Policemen found that the suspects had 150 counterfeit banknotes totaling 750 thousand rubles,” said Russian MIA official representative Irina Volk.
A manager of a local store applied to the Russian MIA Division for the Kushchyovsky District. The woman said that she had found a counterfeit 5,000 ruble note in the cash desk. The police seized the suspicious banknote and questioned employees of the store. According to the description given by the witnesses, policemen made an all-points bulletin for the suspects, as well as for the car they used.
Based on the all-points bulletin, the Road Patrol Service detained the car in the Pavlovsky District. Beside the 35-year old driver - native of Kabardino-Balkaria, there were also two women in the car aged 26 and 32. The police searched the vehicle and found twenty two 5,000 ruble notes under the seat cover with clear signs of counterfeit. When the carrier of the car was searched, the police found 128 more 5,000 ruble notes in the suitcase of one of the passengers. The examination proved that all the confiscated banknotes were counterfeit. As a result of further investigation measures, servicemen of the Division for Economic Security and Combating the Corruption established the involvement of the detained in three cases of counterfeit money distribution in the Kushchyovsky District.
The police initiated a criminal case based on essential elements of a crime stipulated by Part Article 186 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Production for distribution of counterfeit banknotes of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation, as well as storage, transportation for distribution and distribution of knowingly counterfeit banknotes of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation committed in a large amount”.
The sanctions under this article provide for up to 12 years imprisonment. Restraint in the form of remand was imposed on the suspects.
