On the eve of the thirtieth anniversary of the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, the Russian MIA held a meeting of the Secretary of State - Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation Igor Zubov with liquidators of consequences of the man-made disaster.
April 26 marks the 30th anniversary of the terrible tragedy that influenced the lives of millions of people. In those extremely difficult conditions the Task Force of the MIA solved a range of critical tasks of fire-fighting, elimination of its consequences, evacuation of the population, construction of engineering structures and barriers, ensuring public order and safety.
Igor Zubov expressed special gratitude to the audience for the demonstrated heroism and courage. In addition, he noted the special role of activists of the interregional public organization “Shield of Chernobyl” representing today the interests of Chernobyl liquidators and solving problems of professional, patriotic and moral education of the personnel.
In total, the register of the Russian MIA includes 3474 liquidators of the man-made disaster, with 1209 - invalids of the Chernobyl accident.
At the end of the meeting Chernobyl liquidators were awarded valuable gifts and departmental awards.
Tomorrow, on 26 April, the delegation of the Russian MIA will take part in the ceremony of laying a wreath and flowers at the memorial to the victims of Chernobyl at the Mitino cemetery.
