“Investigators of the Internal Affairs Administration for the North-Western Administrative District of the MIA General Administration for the city of Moscow completed the investigation and sent to court a criminal case against three members of an ethnic organized group charged with stealing jewelry from a metropolitan jewelry factory on an especially large scale,” said the MIA official representative Irina Volk.
It has been found during the investigation, that in the period from June to November 2015 members of the group executed two robberies of shops belonging to one of the jewelry factories in Moscow. The defendants used the same scheme: wearing masks and gloves they broke into a jewelry store and threatening with an object, simulating a gun forced the staff to lie on the floor. At the same time, another partner was smashing the jewellery showcases with a hammer, quickly taking out the jewelry and placing them in a specially prepared bag. After that, the offenders quickly fled the scene.
The total material damage to the jewellery factory exceeded 25 mln. rubles.
As a result of search operations in November 2015 the members of the organized group were detained and placed to custody by the court decision.
In February 2016 one of the defendants faced the final version of the charges of committing two crimes under Part. 4 of Art. 162 of the Criminal Code “Robbery”, the other two in March of this year faced the final version of the charges of committing crimes under Part. 4 of Art. 162 of the Criminal Code “Robbery” and Part 5 of Art. 33, Part 3 of Art. 162 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Complicity in the commission of robbery”.
Currently, the criminal case with the indictment approved by the Prosecutor's Office has been sent to the Butyrsky District Court of Moscow for consideration.
