While returning to the metropolitan airport “Chkalovsky” a helicopter of the Special Purpose Air Detachment “Hawk” of the MIA SPC made a hard landing today, in the Yuryev-Polsky District of the Vladimir Region after completing an operational assignment to reveal crimes in the sphere of forest management in the Ivanovo Region.
As a result, two crew members were killed: Head of the sub-division of piloting aircrafts (helicopters) - senior inspector-pilot of the air division of the Special Purpose Air Detachment “Hawk” of the MIA SPC police Colonel 51-year-old Igor Karpenko and senior board engineer of the Special Purpose Air Detachment “Hawk” of the MIA SPC police Senior Lieutenant 25-year-old Pavel Solomatin.
The other two crew members were injured.
The specially formed joint commission to investigate air accident was sent to the area where the emergency occurred.
Starting with the previous year this was already the third service trip of the Special Purpose Air Detachment “Hawk” of the MIA SPC to the Ivanovo Region aimed at identifying illegal logging areas.
During this short period, representatives of the aviation division of the Russian MIA revealed more than a dozen crimes in the sphere of forest management, their investigations helped to apprehend and bring to criminal responsibility several teams of “black” loggers.
In addition, the photo and video recording conducted during the flight allows the detection of stolen and hijacked vehicles.
