In the course of implementation of the reported information, policemen of the Unit for Economic Security and Combating the Corruption of the Rostov Linear Administration for Transport of the Russian MIA together with colleagues from the Russian FSB Administration for the Rostov Region found a 63-year old local at a platform of railway station Rostov-Glavny suspected of illegal trafficking of especially valuable aquatic biological resources belonging to species registered in the Russian Red Book.
Besides, the police found 2 kilos of black caviar and seized it from that citizen. According to the examination performed by a research institute of fishery, the confiscated black caviar is caviar of sturgeon species registered in the Red Book.
The police also seized from the suspect 16.5 kilos of red caviar of salmon species. As was established, the citizen had transported all the products in a mail car of a passenger train “Irkutsk–Kislovodsk”.
At the moment, a criminal case has been initiated against the suspect based on essential elements of a crime stipulated by Part 1 Article 258.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Illegal hunting for and trafficking of especially valuable wild animals and aquatic biological resources belonging to species registered in the Russian Red Book and (or) protected by international agreements of Russia”.
