On the eve of the Russian Students Day, annual all-Russian campaign of the Russian MIA “Students’ Descent” started in the Republic of Crimea.
Within the campaign, students of educational institutions of the capital of the Republic had the possibility to visit the special reception center for persons subjected to administrative arrest of the Russian MIA Administration for Simferopol.
In the course of the event, the students learnt about various areas of work of the internal affairs divisions, about the effective legislation, types of liability for crimes and breaches of law.
Besides, policemen told the students about most widely spread violations committed by young people and about where they should apply in case of emergency.
The excursion for the juveniles was held by Natalya Ovcharenko – Deputy Chief of the special reception center for persons subjected to administrative arrest of the Russian MIA Administration for Simferopol.
She defined term “administrative arrest” and explained that it was a type of administrative punishment for an administrative offense implying confinement of an offender. Administrative arrest is applicable only for grossest offenses. The students also learnt about the conditions of confinement of persons subjected to administrative arrest.
The young people thanked the police employee for the excursion and noted that the arrested persons were kept in good conditions, yet it would be better not to get there at all.
After that, the Students’ Descent carried out a preventive raid within a foot squad of a detached battalion of the Patrol and Inspection Service of the Police of Simferopol.
Policemen answered all the questions asked by the students, including about working days, public order protection laws, about how to protect themselves and their property against malefactors, how to properly act in an emergency situation, particularly how to communicate with drunk persons.
The students also asked the policemen about impressive and interesting cases that had happened in the course of patrolling, about weapons and special devices used by the internal affairs divisions.
Besides, the Students’ Descent participants learnt about the engagement of citizens in the protection of public order and safety together with policemen and about the legal basis for creating people's guards.
At the end of the campaign, the students professed that the past day had given them a new and interesting experience. Some of them even started thinking about the service in the law enforcement bodies.
