Officers of MIA General Administration of Economic Security and Combating the Corruption, the Police Administration for the SEAD of the MIA General Administration for the city of Moscow with the participation of the FSB of Russia conducted a special operation to curb the illegal activities of an organized ethnic group, whose members are suspected of manufacturing, storage and sale of counterfeit banknotes with a par value of five thousand rubles.
As a result of search operations there was obtained information about the structure of the group, organizers and active participants, as well as the distribution channels of counterfeit banknotes. The collected materials served as the basis for initiating a criminal case under the article "The manufacture, storage, transportation or sale of counterfeit money or securities" of the Criminal Code.
In the residences of the suspects the police conducted 10 searches, seized high quality counterfeit banknotes with a par value of five thousand rubles worth over 2.5 million rubles, cell phones, SIM cards, computer equipment and supplies - specials colors, foil used in the production of counterfeit banknotes.
The police detained organizers and most active members of the group, one of whom is a citizen of Armenia. The issue of selecting a preventive measure with regard to the detainees is being considered.
The complex of operational and search measures aimed at decriminalizing the credit and financial sphere, continues.
