"In the course of search operations in the framework of the preventive operation "Fishing Season-2015" officers of the Division for Combating the Economic Crime and Corruption of the Sakhalin Linear Division of the MIA Transport police seized nearly 7 tons of caviar of illegally caught salmons," - said the MIA official representative Elena Alekseeva.
Within the framework of the criminal case initiated by the inquiry division of the Sakhalin Linear Division of the MIA Transport police on the grounds of an offense specified in para "a" of Part 1, Art. 256 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, during the search in the city of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk police officers found two trucks in the territory of one of the warehouses. The vehicles were loaded with containers filled with caviar of salmon species without marking signs and without proper documents confirming the quality and legality of its production. The total weight of the seized batch was 6,860 kilograms.
According to preliminary information, this product was to be sent through the airport of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk to Moscow for sale.
Currently, the inquiry division of the Sakhalin Linear Division of the MIA Transport police prosecuted this fact on the grounds of a criminal offense specified in para "a" of Part 1, Art. 256 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Illegal extraction (catch) of aquatic biological resources, with big damage".
