A criminal investigation into a fact of illegal forest felling on a large scale has been completed in the Perm Territory

Officers of the MIA Inter-municipal Division "Solikamsky" of the Perm Territory completed the investigation of a criminal case against a 48-year-old local resident. He is accused of illegal felling of forest plantations on a large scale using his official position.

The investigation established that at the time of the crime the man was the head of one of the limited liability companies established for the purpose of forestry management. In January 2013, he hired a team of workers engaged in timber harvesting. Using his official position, the man confused them about his true intentions, and assured the workers that he had all the necessary documents and permission for forest felling. Subsequently, the team of loggers within several days illegally cut down more than a thousand trees of different species.

The wood was transported to the storage site, from where the offender took it, sold and spend the proceeds at his discretion. As a result of these illegal actions the inflicted damage amounted to approximately 5.5 million rubles.

The criminal case was sent to court.
