On August 27th, precinct police officers carried out informative and preventive campaign “Do Not Allow to Be Cheated!” in Chelyabinsk. The event aimed to prevent fraudulent activities against elderly citizens.
Within that campaign, police carried out conversations with elderly people in state institutions and in main streets of the city. Talking with citizens, policemen reminded them of most widespread frauds having warned them that malefactors continuously refined their fraudulent schemes.
Policemen reminded elderly people of simple rules they should observe not to become a victim of a crime: do not open doors to strangers even if they present themselves as employees of social services; demand identification documents; do not show places of savings; do not trust messages and phone calls saying that a relative has allegedly got into trouble and money is need for his rescue.
Besides, policemen handed over informative booklets to residents of the city containing descriptions of basic criminal scheme of swindlers, recommendations on how to preserve property, as well telephone numbers of competent services and organizations to address in order to avoid fraud.
