In the Trans-Baikal Territory the Police solved a multimillion theft of gold and silver

In Chita, criminal investigation officers of the MIA Regional Division detained the last member of the group, which is suspected of stealing gold jewelry from jewelry boutiques in the center of Chita.

In January 2015, the Police in the city of Chita received a report of a theft of jewelry from two boutiques located in one of the shopping malls. The Police arrived to the scene and found broke- open safe-boxes and tools used by the offenders. They stole from the safe-boxes gold and silver jewelry worth over 50 million rubles.

The MIA Administration for the Trans-Baikal Territory formed a special group which included the most experienced criminal investigators and detectives. The Police found that two 29-year-old residents of Chita, as well as a 52-year-old man, repeatedly convicted for property crimes, were involved in the theft.

With the support of OMON riot police, two suspects were detained in late March. Three weeks later, investigators established the location of the organizer of the crime. He was detained in Chita in a rented apartment.

The Police seized from the detainees 17 kilograms of jewelry. The major part was seized in a private house, where acquaintances of the suspects lived. During the investigation of the crime at least 10 people who were bying or selling the stolen jewelry were taken to police bodies.

In addition, the suspects committed a theft of clothes from another boutique in the mall. The stolen items were also seized during the searches.

Currently officers of the Investigation Administration of the of the MIA Administration for the Trans-Baikal Territory and operatives of the Criminal Investigation continue the activities of seizing the stolen jewelry. The main part of jewelry has been already returned to boutiques' owners.

The suspects were arrested and placed in pre-trial detention.
