Officers of the Administration of Economic Security and Combating the Corruption of the MIA Administration for the Astrakhan Region, together with inspectors of the Territorial Administration of Rosrybolovstvo took operational measures to curb poaching in the northern part of the Caspian Sea. The police found two boats. Noticing the patrol boat, the people who were in them, tried to escape.
Law enforcement officers organized the pursued. As a result, they detained eight residents of the Republic of Dagestan aged from 28 to 48. Investigators found in one of the boats sturgeon and stellate sturgeon with a total weight of 15 kilograms. The Police also seized fishing nets with lengths of 600 and 900 meters, metal anchors, satellite navigation devices.
The Investigation of the MIA Division for the Volodarsky District prosecuted the fact of illegal extraction of valuable aquatic biological resources belonging to the species listed in the Red Book of Russia. Arrest was selected as the preventive measure for the detainees.
