Employees of the Moscow Criminal Investigation Department with the power support of the Special Forces Center of the MIA General Administration for the City of Moscow detained three members of organized armed ethnic group.
In the period from October 2014 to March 2015 several similar armed robberies occurred in the capital. The offenders tracked down people who had made foreign exchange operations and left in vehicles with large sums of money. They blocked the cars of victims during a stop at a traffic light, then smashed the glass and, at gunpoint, stole the cash.
The attackers used for committing crimes a car with fraudulent number plates.
As a result of complex operational search activities at the 5 km of the MKAD in an attempt of another crime the police detained three suspects - born in Georgia and aged from 33 to 40.
The Police found with the Detainees and seized portable radios, a pistol with a silencer as well as knives, drills (for glass breaking), a mask with slits for eyes and 4 sets of fake number plates.
Currently the involvement of the detainees in seven robberies has been established. Investigators, also, have every reason to believe that the detainees may be involved in robberies.
The total damage from the illegal activity to the group, according to preliminary data, amounted to more than 30 million rubles.
Criminal cases on the facts of robbery and illegal arms trafficking have been initiated.
