Beginning from early 2014, the policemen of the Division for Economic Security and Combating the Corruption of the Department of the Russian MIA for Vorkuta have conducted 18 inspections aimed to prevent, detect and stop the circulation of products with counterfeit signs. The police confiscated 23 thousand DVD, CD and Blu Ray discs.
According to the results of a number of expert examinations, the police has already established copyright holders of the information on the discs, as well as the amount of financial damage caused by the copyright infringement.
Based on these facts, the Investigation Division of the Department of the Russian MIA for Vorkuta has initiated criminal cases under Article of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Violation of Copyright and Related Rights”. Two of these criminal cases have been forwarded to the court.
