Since 1986 in Chebarkul of the Chelyabinsk region takes place a traditional tournament in Greco-Roman wrestling in honor of a veteran of Internal Affairs Andrei Volodin - a veteran of World War II, awarded with three Orders of Glory, a participant of the Victory Parade in Moscow on the Red Square in 1945, a militia major in retirement.
Andrei Volodin was born December 25, 1919 in a family of a miner. Since July 1941, he participated in the battles in Finland, Norway, Poland, Germany and Czechoslovakia. During his military service, was wounded four times, but each time returned to the front. In addition to the three Orders of Glory, he was awarded the Order of the Red Star, two Orders of the Patriotic War of the first and second degrees and fifteen medals for military merit and bravery.
Immediately after the war, Andrei Volodin changed his army uniform for a militia one, he began his service in the position of a militia precinct inspector in the villageof Misyash, the Chebarkul District. He grew from a precinct inspector to the chief of the linear militia point at the Chebarkul station. Had numerous medals and promotions, his name was included into the Jubilee Edition of the Book of Honor of the USSR MIA. Andrei Volodin always demonstrated extraordinary modesty, dedication, ingenuity and resourcefulness.
The opening of the tournament was attended by daughters and grandchildren of the veteran. The competition this year was organized by Deputy Chief of Private Security Division of the MIA General Administration for the Chelyabinsk Region, master of sports in Greco-Roman wrestling Police Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Kiryanov, the founder of the school of Greco-Roman wrestling school in Chebarkul, coach of the highest category Mikhail Pozdnyakov and coach on Greco Roman wrestling Alexei Maximov.
The competition was attended by 117 people in 16 weight categories - teams of boys aged 10-11 from different cities of the region: Chelyabinsk, Chebarkul, Emanzhelinsk, Krasnogorsk, Magnitogorsk, Zlatoust and Plast, as well as Petuhovo of the Kurgan Region.
The winners were awarded with cups and gifts.
