The General Investigation Administration of the MIA General Administration for the Irkutsk Region charged a local resident with illegal use of funds.

During the check of operational information, the staff of the Administration for Economic Security and Combating the Corruption together with the staff of the Control and Audit Chamber of the region have audited the use of budgetary funds by recipients of grants within the framework of the targeted program of supporting new farmers. The materials collected  by the Operatives became the basis for criminal prosecution for a fraud in obtaining benefits.

According to investigators, a 44-year-old man rented a few hectares of land in the Ekhirit Bulugatskiy District of the region, and then by presenting false documents, received one-off assistance for the development of a farm, without actually having any intentions to cultivate the land.

As an evidence of intended use of the allocated budget funds of $ 1.7 million rubles the malefactor presented fictitious contracts for the purchase of agricultural machinery and for  works on the construction of a fence along the perimeter of the farm with attached photos of another fence.

As a result of illegal activities of the malefactors the federal and regional budgets suffered a large scale damage.
