In the Murmansk Region there were seized more than 20 tons of illegally caught fish

Officers of the MIA General Administration of Economic Security and Combating the Corruption together with the Administration of Economic Security and Combating the Corruption of the MIA Administration for the Murmansk Region revealed a fact of illegal extraction of aquatic biological resources.

According to the operative data, the crew of a Russian trawler fishing in the Faroese economic zone, caught more than 20 tonnes of Atlantic blue whiting atop the quota set for the vessel.

Thus, in the course of customs clearance in the territory of the Murmansk Sea Fishing Port there was documented a fact of excessive actual weight of the declared fish.

Inaccurate information on the catch was also contained in the fishing logbook of the vessel.

A criminal case was initiated on the fact of illegal fishing of aquatic biological resources. The seized fish was placed under an administrative arrest.

Operational-investigative activities are continued.
