In Moscow, there was held the grand opening of the All-Russian contest of Young Traffic Inspectors "Safe wheel"

The All-Russian contest "Safe wheel" is the main event in the activities of squads of young traffic inspectors. This year the competition is attended by more than 350 pupils aged from 10 to 12 from all the regions of Russia. The YTI All-Russian contest "Safe Wheel" is one of the most stable traditions of the Traffic Police; it has been held annually for more than thirty years.

Each year the competition changes its geography - in different years representatives of all the Russian regions were received by such cities as St. Petersburg, Kazan, Kemerovo, Perm, Tyumen, Khanty-Mansiysk. In Moscow, the YTI All-Russian contest "Safe Wheel" is held for the first time. The opening ceremony of the contest was held in the Moscow City Palace of Children on the Vorobyovy Gory. Honorary guests of the ceremony were Deputy Minister of Education and Science of the Russian Federation Alexander Klimov, Chief of the MIA General Administration for Traffic Safety, Police Lieutenant-General Viktor Nilov and chairman of the national public organization "All-Russian Pedagogical Assembly" Valentina Ivanova.

Chief State Inspector of Traffic Safety of the Russian Federation Viktor Nilov, welcoming the participants, noted the importance of the activities of young traffic inspector squads and educators in teaching children the skills of safe behavior on the road, promoting compliance with traffic rules among children. He also stressed that the marked feature lately is the fact that the discussion on improving the safety of children on the roads are increasingly joined not only by representatives of governments, but also by the general public, which confirms the great social importance of these issues and the interest of the whole society in their solution.

During the four contest days students will demonstrate their knowledge of the rules of road safety, skills of figure driving of a bike and of providing first aid to victims of road accidents, as well as a promotion stage performance. In total the "Safe wheel" program includes six competitions in various areas of ensuring road safety.

Winners of the "Safe Wheels - 2014" will be announced on June 28; the awarding ceremony will also take place in the Moscow City Palace of Children. The team, which will be the absolute winner and will score the largest number of points at the end of all phases of the competition, will represent the Russian Federation at the European Educational Competition on Traffic Rules, which this year will take place in Oslo, Norway.

In addition, within the framework of the event there will take place a public debate, the main theme of which will be the prevention of child injuries on the roads. Professionals and experts will present their own research works and methodologies in this area, will identify joint prospects for improving children's road safety.

The public discussion will become a continuation of activities, the strategic directions of which were formed at the IV International Congress on "Road Safety for the Safety of Life" in St. Petersburg and were later developed in the framework of the All-Russian seminar "Main vectors of activities of creating conditions for the safe participation of children in the traffic. The experience of Russia and the CIS ", which was held last year in the Moscow Region.
