Employees of Administration of Economic Security and Combating the Corruption of the MIA General Administration for the Rostov Region, together with operatives of the regional FSB department within the frame of the "Putina-2014" operation identified an illegal channels of delivery and sale of fish and sturgeon caviar in the city of Rostov-on-Don.
There was also found handicraft production and sale of fine-mesh fish species, included into the Red Book of Russia. This product was dangerous to life and health of consumers.
With respect to two residents of the city of Rostov-on-Don suspected in organizing the fish supply chain, a criminal case was initiated.
During the searches conducted in places of residence and illegal activity of the suspects, the police found and seized 16 kg of sturgeon caviar, 62.7 kg of sturgeon, 48 kg of salmon, 2 kg of pike caviar, 19 kg of smoked sturgeon as well as 380 kg of fine-mesh fish species, including 25 kg of Shemaah fish included into the Red Book of Russia. There were also found and seized the money in the amount of 9500 dollars, 1.4 thousand euros, 342 thousand rubles.
The seized fishery products were placed for safekeeping. The issue of selecting a preventive measure with regard to the suspects is being considered.
