“The staff of the MIA of Russia Main Directorate for Drug Trafficking control, together with colleagues from the Nizhny Novgorod and Chelyabinsk regions with the participation of the special unit “Grom”, detained 14 members of the criminal community suspected of illegal production and sale of drugs in several regions of Russia.
The roles were clearly distributed among members of the criminal group. It included operators, couriers, storekeepers, as well as an accountant and a person responsible for the selection of personnel. They made drugs at laboratories organized in the Moscow Region. Operators took orders through messengers. Storekeepers placed prohibited substances weighing from 1 to 3 kilograms into caches located in the Moscow Region. Couriers picked-up the goods and delivered them to various entities of the Russian Federation for further distribution. The accountant distributed the proceeds among the criminal community participants.
Criminal investigations into all the facts were initiated on the grounds of crimes stipulated by parts 1 and 2 of Article 210, Article 228.1 and part 3 of Article 30 of the Russian Criminal Code.
As a result of operational-search measures near a shopping center on the Larin Street in Nizhny Novgorod, one of the offenders, who was traveling in a car without registration plates was detained. When inspecting the vehicle, a drainage pump was found in its trunk, inside of which there was a polymer bag with a powdered substance weighing about a kilogram, which, as shown by the forensic study, was methylephedrone.
In addition, at the beginning of the year, two more couriers were detained at various addresses in the Nizhny Novgorod Region with about four kilograms of the drug.
The remaining 11 suspects were detained by police in the Chelyabinsk, Ryazan, Moscow regions and in the city of Moscow. A total of more than 25 kilograms of banned substances have been removed from illicit trafficking.
Placement to custody was selected by court as the preventive measure for all the suspects.
Currently, criminal cases have been merged and are being investigated by the GA for Investigation of the MIA of Russia GA for the Nizhny Novgorod Region. The preliminary criminal investigation is on-going,” said the official spokesperson for the Russian MIA Irina Volk.
