During the check of operational information officers of the MIA of Russia Division for the town of Megion, together with colleagues from the FSB of Russia in the Tyumen Region, detained a group of persons suspected of theft of petroleum products at the time of committing the unlawful act.
During the preliminary investigation, it was established that the offenders, by means of unauthorized connection to a pressure oil pipeline located in the suburbs of Megion, carried out the pumping out of oil, which they stored nearby at a former gas station for cargo vehicles. From the cut-in point to the storage depot, the oil was delivered by means of a household high-pressure polymer pipe laid on the ground. The stolen oil was pumped into special vehicles and transported under false documents for subsequent sale under the guise of drill solids.
At the oil product distribution depot, law enforcement officers detained three suspects: men born in 1978, 1977 and 1987, who carried out a round-the-clock process of pumping and transporting of hydrocarbons. It should be noted that two of the offenders were previously convicted.
The preliminary material damage caused to the oil company exceeded 1 million rubles.
Currently, measures are being taken to establish the actual leader and owner of the gas station, as well as other possible participants in the theft.
Investigators of the investigative unit of the MIA of Russia Division for the town of Megion initiated a criminal case on the grounds of a crime under part 3 of Article 30, paragraph “b” of part 3 of Article 158 of the RF Criminal Code “Theft”. This article presumes a punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of up to six years.
With respect to all the detainees a preventive measure was selected pursuant to Article 91 of the RF Code of Criminal Procedure.
