A 55-year-old local resident made a statement to police division No. 1 of the MIA of Russia Administration for Vladikavkaz on the theft of money in the amount of 150 thousand rubles. The woman explained that no strangers had come to her, and she collected the money for her husband’s medical operation.
The police arriving at the specified address inspected the scene and did not find any signs of breaking-in. Law enforcers have identified the circle of people received in the victim’s house. The suspicions were aroused by the applicant’s 53-year-old acquaintance, who had been the woman’s tenant for about a year. On the day when she noticed the loss, the tenant dropped-in to pay the monthly rent. The next day, the man moved out of the apartment without warning the hostess about it. The suspect stopped communicating and turned off the phone. In addition, criminal investigators found out that the man had introduced himself to the landlady by someone else's name.
Soon, as a result of operative-search activities the whereabouts of the suspect have been established. The man was detained in premises located on Mira Ave., where he carried out repair works.
The detainee confessed and explained that on that day, he had noticed an envelope with money on the refrigerator. When the victim left the kitchen, he made use of the opportunity and stole the money. Almost immediately, the man spent the entire amount to pay off his earlier debts.
Currently, a criminal case has been initiated under part 2 of Article 158 of the Criminal Code “Theft”.
