“Officers of the MIA of Russia Administration for the Kaliningrad Region, in cooperation with the regional prosecutor's office, suppressed the activities of an organized criminal community whose members were engaged in the illegal production and sale of unmarked alcoholic beverages in the region.
It was established that the illegal production was organized on the territory of one of the enterprises in the city of Kaliningrad, where a full cycle of hard liquors production was organized. From 3 to 6 thousand bottles with labels and fake excise stamps were produced per hour.
According to available information, the alleged organizer of the illegal activity distributed the roles among the accomplices. Some controlled the production, bought labels, containers, raw materials and enzymes for alcoholic fermentation. Others accepted orders, planned the delivery of products and transported them to retail outlets. According to the preliminary data, the damage caused by the activities of the criminal group exceeded 100 million rubles.
The investigative unit of the MIA of Russia Administration for the Kaliningrad Region instituted criminal proceedings on the grounds of crimes stipulated by paragraphs “a” and “b” of part 6 of Article 171.1, part 4 of Article 180 and part 1 and 2 of Article 210 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
The police, with the participation of the Rosgvardia, detained the organizer and five members of the criminal community. During searches in the manufacturing and storage facilities, as well as in the places of residence of the defendants, more than 100 thousand liters of unmarked alcohol products were found. In addition, labels, fake excise stamps, bank cards, computer equipment and accounting documents of evidentiary value for the criminal case were seized.
Placement to custody was selected by court as the preventive measure for the detainees. The preliminary criminal investigation is on-going,” said the official representative of the Russian MIA Irina Volk.
