“Officers of the Administration for Economic Security and Combating the Corruption of the MIA of Russia Administration for the Bryansk Region prevented the illegal activities of a group of persons suspected of fraud in the sphere of funeral services.
It was established that employees of the Bryansk municipal unitary specialized enterprise for provision of funeral services had been demanding payment from citizens for the allocation of places for burial of their relatives, although in accordance with the legislation of the Russian Federation that service was provided free of charge. According to available information, the amounts illegally obtained by the offenders ranged from 13,000 to 55,000 rubles.
The Administration for Investigation of the MIA of Russia Administration for the city of Bryansk initiated six criminal cases under part 2 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
As a result of the operational-search activities, police officers detained one of the suspects. Ban on certain actions was selected by court as the preventive measure for the suspect.
During the searches, the police seized cash, bank cards, and official documents of evidentiary value in the criminal case.
Currently, all circumstances of the incident are being established. The preliminary criminal investigation is ongoing,” said the official representative of the Russian MIA Irina Volk.
