“Officers of the MIA of Russia Division for the Berezovsky District of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous District - Ugra suppressed the activities of a group of individuals suspected of illegal fishing on migration routes to spawning sites.
It was found that five locals using a net on the 152nd kilometer of the Severnaya Sosva River caught about 5 tons of fish of various species. The preliminary damage is estimated at about 20 million rubles.
Investigators of the MIA of Russia Division for the Berezovsky District initiated a criminal case on the features of an offense stipulated by part 3 of Article 256 of the RF Criminal Code.
As a result of operational search activities the suspects were detained in the village of Igrim. With regard to one of them, the court selected a prevention measure in the form of placement to custody and the rest were on recognizance of not to leave and to behave properly.
During searches of the defendants’ places of residence, the police seized fishing gear and other items of evidentiary value for the investigation of the criminal case.
There are reasons to believe that one of the detainees may be involved in the commission of two similar crimes in the region.
Currently, investigative steps are being taken to establish all the circumstances of the unlawful activity,” said the official representative of the Russian MIA Irina Volk.
