“Officers of the MIA of Russia Main Directorate for Criminal Investigation, together with colleagues from the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania, with the participation of the FSB of Russia, suppressed the activities of a group of individuals whose members were suspected of illegal trafficking of arms, their main parts and ammunition.
As a result of operational-search measures, police officers detained the alleged leader of the group and one of the active participants. A Makarov pistol, a Kalashnikov sub-machine gun, two improvised pistols, an RPG-7V hand-held anti-tank grenade launcher, two fragmentation grenades, two hand grenade fuses and cartridges were seized.
The Investigative Division of the IFSB of Russia Department in the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania initiated five criminal cases on the grounds of a crime under part 2 of Article 222 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
Placement to custody was selected by court as the preventive measure for the suspects. Currently, investigative steps are being taken to establish all the circumstances of the defendants’ unlawful activity,” said the official representative of the Russian MIA Irina Volk.
