Police officers in the Moscow Region suppressed illegal production and seized about 5 tons of counterfeit engine oil

“In the Moscow Region, officers of the Division for Economic Security and Combating the Corruption of the MIA of Russia Inter-District Administration “Balashikhinskoe” suppressed the activity of a workshop producing counterfeit engine oil of well-known brands.

It was established that the enterprise was located in the industrial zone on the Obyezdnoye Shosse of the city of Balashikha. When inspecting the premises, the police found an automated line, as well as more than a thousand five-liter cans with ready-for-sale products with signs of counterfeiting. The plastic containers were of poor quality, they lacked security elements, which was unacceptable for the original product. In addition, empty cans, labels of various brands, stamps and invoices were seized.

As a result of a forensic study of motor oil samples, it was established that they did not comply with the requirements of technical regulations. The damage caused to the copyright holders is being established. According to preliminary calculations, the amount of losses incurred only by one of the firms exceeded 1.5 million rubles.

The Investigation Division of the MIA of Russia Inter-Municipal Administration “Balashikhinskoe” initiated a criminal case under part 1 of Article 180 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.

At present, investigations are continued, the organizers of illegal production line and places of sale of counterfeit products are being established,” said the official representative of the Russian MIA Irina Volk.
