MIA of Russia XXIII National Charity Event “Mercy of the White Nights” started in Saint Petersburg

On May 13, 2019, the XXVIII All-Russian charity event of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia “Mercy of the White Nights”, which is inextricably linked with the history of our country and is dedicated to officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia who died in the line of duty started in St. Petersburg. The starting point for the organization of this event was the tragic events of February 1991, when in a fire at the Leningrad Hotel fire fighters and police officers died while rescuing visitors.

This action is aimed at revealing the creative potential of the staff of the internal affairs bodies, who combine their difficult service with creative work. The festival is a platform for talented police officers who come to the city on the Neva from different regions of the country, as well as from other countries. The action is held every year and has already gained the international status.

On May 14, at 12:00, according to tradition, a midday shot ceremony will be held in honor of the festival participants at the Naryshkin Bastion of the Peter and Paul Fortress, and at 14:00 the solemn opening of this action with the participation of an honorary jury will take place at the Moscow Hotel. The jury consists of famous actors: Dmitry Kharatyan, Andrei Urgant, Dmitry Dyuzhev, Evgeny Dyatlov. Then at 14:30 at the “Moscow” hotel a press conference will be held with the participation of the jury and representatives of the MIA of Russia GA.

The festival is taking place in St. Petersburg from May 13 to May 19. An extensive program of events is planned for participants and guests this year. During the festival, competition auditions among the participants will be held every day, where the winners will be selected and awarded, creative evenings and master classes with the participation of professional actors will be held. During the action, the festival participants will give a number of off-site concerts.

On May 17, at 12:00, flowers will be laid to the bust of the first general-police chief of Petersburg A.M. Devier and a memorial service for staff of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia who died in the line of duty will take place.

The closing ceremony of the action will be held on May 18 at 15:00, it will include a gala concert of Russian pop singers and laureates of the action at the “Oktyabrsky” Concert Hall, the Grand Prix award ceremony, as well as the award ceremony for the winners of the All-Russian action “Mercy of White Nights”.
