“Officers of the Division for Economic Security and Combating the Corruption (ES&CC), together with colleagues from Division for Migration Issues of the MIA of Russia Administration for the city of Domodedovo, Moscow Region, have stopped the illegal manufacturing of counterfeit textile products,” said the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia Irina Volk.
“The illegal sewing shop was located in one of the rented houses in the village of Nikitskoe, of the Domodedovo Urban District. 14 people from countries of South-East Asia and CIS countries were engaged in tailoring sports suits, trousers, undershirts and T-shirts for adults and children under well-known trademarks. They lived in unsanitary conditions in the same house. In addition, the workers did not have work permits and were staying illegally in the territory of the Russian Federation. For the purpose of preserving the secrecy, they were forbidden to go out of the house,” said Irina Volk.
As a result of the event, policemen seized 550 pieces of clothing, 14 overlockers, 15 sewing machines, fabric cutting machines, trademark stencils, as well as clichés, sketches, various labels and tags. The damage from the crime to the copyright holder amounted to about 3 million rubles.
The inquiry division of the MIA of Russia Administration for the Domodedovo Urban District has initiated a criminal investigation into the fact of the production of counterfeit textile products on the grounds of a crime under Article 180 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
With regard to the detainees, the police officers have drawn up administrative protocols under Article 18.8 and 18.10 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation for illegal employment and violation of the rules of entry into the territory of the Russian Federation.
The activities of illegal production shop were terminated. Currently, a complex of operational and search measures aimed at establishing and detaining the organizers of the illegal activity is being implemented.
