Police detained suspects in the storage and sale of counterfeit banknotes

“Officers of the ES&CC units of the MIA of Russia Administration for the Bryansk Region, together with colleagues from the Moscow Region with the participation of the regional department of the FSB of Russia, suppressed the activities of persons suspected of storing, transporting and selling fake banknotes of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation with a par value of 5,000 rubles in Russia,” said the MIA of Russia Spokesperson Irina Volk.

It was established that in March of the current year, the offenders purchased fake banknotes through an on-line store. After payment of 135 thousand rubles through an electronic wallet, the coordinates of the cache were sent to them, in which there were 60 counterfeit 5 thousand ruble banknotes. Immediately after that, the men bought a car worth 140,000 rubles in the city of Lyubertsy, the Moscow Region, paying for it with fake banknotes, and the rest sold on the way to Bryansk while shopping in small stores.

“On this fact Criminal investigators of the MIA Inter-municipal Administration “Lyuberetskoye” initiated a criminal case on grounds of a crime under part 1 of Article 186 of the RF Criminal Code.

As a result of operational search activities in the town of Lyubertsy, two 24-year-old residents of the city of Bryansk were detained. During searches of their places of residence, 30 counterfeit banknotes of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation were found with a par value of 5,000 rubles each,” said Irina Volk.

Currently, the criminal case has been transferred to the GA for Investigation of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Moscow Region. The preventive measure selected for the suspect was a subscription on own recognizance and appropriate behavior.

Measures aimed at identifying the accomplices and additional episodes of the suspects' criminal activity are underway.
