“Officers of the Administration for Economic Security and Combating the Corruption (ES&CC) of the MIA of Russia GA for the Rostov Region, together with representatives of the regional department of the FSB and with the participation of the Rosgvardia and the Prosecutor's Office of the Rostov Region, detained seven members of an organized group suspected of illegal circulation of funds,” said the official representative of the MIA of Russia Irina Volk.
“In order to conduct unlawful financial operations of illegal cash withdrawals, the offenders registered and acquired fictitious ephemeral firms and made fake payment orders indicating a fictitious purpose of payment. It was found that 200 dummy organizations had been registered in the city of Moscow and Moscow Region, Rostov and Leningrad regions, as well as the republics of the North Caucasus. According to available information, the offenders withdrew about 1 billion rubles into the shadow turnover,” said Irina Volk.
In the framework of the preliminary investigation of the criminal case, 20 searches were conducted in the places of residence of the defendants, nominal leaders and founders of organizations under their control. 250 plastic cards issued to front-men, 200 seals of pseudo companies, 180 remote access devices to the Bank-Client system, 17 personal computers, accounting documents, electronic data carriers, draft records and other items confirming the illegal activities of the detainees were seized.
The investigative unit of the GA for Investigation of the MIA of Russia GA for the Rostov Region initiated criminal cases on the grounds of crimes provided for by part 2 of Article 187 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. Placement to custody was selected as the preventive measure for five active participants of the organized group. Two are under a subscription on their own recognizance and proper behavior.
