“The duty unit of the Klimovsky Police Division of the MIA of Russia Administration for the Urban District (UD) of Podolsk of the Moscow Region received from a social worker a message that during a planned home visit of a 93-year-old veteran of the Great Patriotic War, she had noticed his injuries,” said the official representative of the Russian MIA Irina Volk.
The man said that a few days ago two unknown men had entered his apartment. They beat the veteran, after which they stole one million rubles and his orders and medals. On this fact, the Investigation Administration of the MIA of Russia Administration for the UD of Podolsk initiated a criminal case on the grounds of a crime under part 2 of Article 161 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. Two days later, the victim died in a city hospital.
“As a result of operational search activities, policemen identified and detained two men aged 25 and 27 who were suspected of committing the crime. Placement to custody was selected by court as the preventive measure for the suspects,” added Irina Volk.
A part of the stolen awards was found and seized by criminal investigation officers in one of Moscow pawnshops. Currently, the Police implement operative-search measures and investigative activities aimed at establishing all accomplices and actual circumstances of the crime.
