In Novosibirsk, the Police detained suspects of committing a robbery attack

In the course of a complex of operational-search measures, officers of the Criminal Investigation Administration of the regional police, together with operatives of Police Division No. 5 “Dzerzhinsky” of the MIA of Russia Administration for the city of Novosibirsk, identified and detained six people aged from 21 to 30 who had arrived in Novosibirsk from the CIS, two of whom were suspected of committing a robbery.

On February 10, at about 03.00, the suspects in the area of garages located in the Pochtovy Log in the Dzerzhinsky District attacked a man using a baseball bat and took his cell phone and a bank card from him and subsequently withdrew money from that card. The total damage from the crime was about 17 thousand rubles.

The detainees confessed to the offence. Police officers conducted searches at the addresses of the suspects, where the stolen property was found and seized, as well as the clothes and shoes in which they committed the crime.

A criminal case has been initiated on the fact under part 2 of Article 162 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Robbery committed by a group of persons by prior agreement with objects used as arms”. The investigation is underway. The sanction of this article presumes a punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of up to 10 years.

Two suspects have been placed to custody. Four more were placed in a special facility; at present, with regard to them materials on an administrative offense are being prepared under Article 18.8 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation “Violation by a foreign citizen or stateless person of the rules for entering the Russian Federation or of the regime of stay (residence) in the Russian Federation”.

Currently the police operatives implement measures aimed at identifying additional episodes of the suspects' criminal activity.
