“Officers of the Administration for Economic Security and Combating the Corruption of the MIA of Russia GA for the Krasnodar Territory established that in the territory of the Tuapsinsky District a group of persons was engaged in illegal logging of forest plantations. A criminal case has been opened on the grounds of a crime provided for by part 3 of Article 260 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation,” said the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia Irina Volk.
Policemen with the participation of Rosgvardia detained three local residents aged 27, 28 and 40 who were suspected of organizing in the forest area harvesting of timber and its subsequent sale to woodworking enterprises of the Apsheronsky District.
According to available information, as a result of their illegal activities, more than 130 oak trees were destroyed. The total damage exceeded 12 million rubles.
The implementation of a complex of measures aimed at decriminalizing the forest industry continues.
