In 2013, in the course of operational search activities, officers of the Administration for Economic Security and Combating the Corruption of the MIA of Russia GA for the Novosibirsk Region suppressed the activities of a group of persons operating from 2009 to 2013 in Novosibirsk. Members of the group stole citizens' money under the guise of selling BADs and providing extrasensory services.
Services were advertised through mass media. After the client’s call to the indicated telephone number reporting a health problem, the operator recorded his contact details. A serious diagnosis was invented for the client with a statement that refusal from treatment, was allegedly threatening to be fatal. That was followed by a psychological pressure aimed at getting hold of the largest possible amount “for treatment”. If the client doubted that the treatment with dietary supplements would be effective, he was informed that the situation with his health was of great scientific interest, and if he continued the course of treatment with dietary supplements, government agencies would refund the entire cost of treatment from the federal budget. After that, the cost of a new course of treatment with similar drugs was calculated for the client. Deception of citizens in the provision of psychic services was carried out in a similar way. “Psychics” stole money from customers under the pretext of returning them through lottery tickets “charged with cosmic and astral energy”.
