“The Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation, together with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, in the Moscow Region and the Republic of Dagestan, suppressed the activities of an interregional criminal community, whose members manufactured and marketed high-quality counterfeit banknotes of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation. 30 members of the organized criminal community were detained,” said the official representative of the MIA of Russia Irina Volk.
Sale of large batches of fakes was carried out in 20 industrialized regions of the country.
“As part of the investigation of 9 criminal cases initiated by investigative units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, on the basis of these facts, a significant number of counterfeit bills, technological equipment with clichés to print money and means reproducing banknote security elements were found and seized from the suspects,” Irina Volk said.
Resource support activities of the organized criminal community was carried out from abroad.
Earlier, in October 2018, in the Republic of Dagestan, the activities of a number of owned by the detainees clandestine “laboratories” for the mass production of counterfeit Russian money were suppressed.
Operational investigative measures and investigative actions aimed at checking the involvement of community members in other crimes, including the financing of terrorism continue.
