“Officers of the MIA of Russia GA for Criminal Investigation (CI), together with colleagues from the ‘K’ Administration of the MIA of Russia and the MIA of Russia GA for Moscow, detained two young people suspected of stealing money from ATMs,” said the official representative of the MIA of Russia Irina Volk.
It was established that the offenders in the territory of Moscow and other regions of Russia from 2017 stole money from ATMs of various Russian financial institutions. The suspects used information carrier with the software for remote access to the operating system of payment devices, which, after being connected, made it possible to perform the manipulations necessary for taking out the money.
“As a result of operational search activities in the Lukhovitsky District of the Moscow Region, the police stopped a car in which there were two men aged 29 and 32. When inspecting the car, money was seized to a total amount of more than 6.5 million rubles. Mobile phones, sim-cards and laptops that had been used to commit unlawful acts were discovered,” said Irina Volk.
The Investigation Administration of the Internal Affairs Administration for the EAD of the MIA of Russia GA for the city of Moscow initiated a criminal case on the grounds of an offense under part 2 of Art.322.1 of the RF Criminal Code. Remand in custody was selected as the preventive measure for the suspects.
Circumstances of 12 similar crimes committed on the territory of the Russian Federation have been established. According to preliminary estimates, the amount of material damage to legal entities exceeded 20 million rubles.
Currently, police officers are conducting a complex of operational-search activities and investigative actions aimed at identifying additional episodes of the suspects' unlawful activities.
