Officers of the Administration for Economic Security and Combating the Corruption of the MIA of Russia GA for the Moscow Region together with colleagues from the MIA of Russia Administration for the Sergiev Posad District suppressed the activities of a shop producing counterfeit mineral water under a well-known trademark.
It was established that the production was located in the territory of the industrial zone in the city of Sergiev Posad. During the inspection of the shop, police officers discovered and seized more than 5 thousand liter bottles with fake mineral water, more than 50 thousand accessories (labels, caps, bar codes), more than 700 plastic bottles, over 10 thousand stickers with a supposedly well-known brand logo, and also automatic line for water bottling.
At the time of the appearance of police officers in the shop, there were 4 natives of one of the Central Asian countries, who around the clock bottled counterfeit products on an industrial scale.
The investigators found out that the shop had been working for 4 months and supplied finished products to the territory of the Moscow Region. The damage caused to rights-holders amounted to about 300 thousand rubles. In addition, a 61-year-old resident of the Kaluga Region suspected of organizing the illegal production was found and detained by the police.
On this fact, the Investigation Administration of the MIA Administration initiated a criminal case under Art. 180 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. This article presumes a maximum punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of up to 6 years.
The preventive measure selected for the suspect was a subscription on his own recognizance and proper conduct.
Currently, the activity of the illegal shop is terminated.
