Investigators of the investigative unit of the MIA of Russia GA for the Nizhny Novgorod Region established the involvement of a 21-year-old resident of the Nizhny Novgorod Region in 16 cases of fraud committed against villagers. The total damage from the activities of the offenders amounted to about 1,300,000 million rubles.
The materials of the criminal case established that the defendant from August 2016 to February 2018 visited small settlements in the Nizhny Novgorod Region, where he looked for elderly people and citizens in need of the construction and repair of their homes, and offered them his services. Having received money from the victims as the prepayment for the provision of the service, the offender delivered a small part of the building material and also organized the execution of the preparatory work for the victims. After that, the man stopped getting in touch with the victims, but disposed of the money at his own discretion.
16 citizens suffered from criminal actions of the offender, the total damage amounted to 1,277,830 rubles.
On the grounds of an offense stipulated by part 2 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of Russia, the police initiated a criminal case.
Placement to custody was selected as the preventive measure for the defendant.
Currently, the criminal case investigation is completed, it has been sent to Kstovo city court for decision. This article presumes a punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of up to 5 years.
