During the operational-search activities, officers of the Division for Economic Security and Combatting the Corruption (IS&CC) found that eight citizens by prior conspiracy had committed 17 offences of illegal tree felling in the forests of the Boguchansky District, from July 2017 through April 2018, cutting more than 1,000 trees, mainly pines and larches. The total volume of wood exceeded 1,000 cubic meters, the amount of damage caused is more than 5 million 900 thousand rubles.
Investigators of the MIA of Russia Division for the Boguchansky District initiated criminal proceedings against suspects on the grounds of the crime stipulated in part 3 of Article 260 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Illegal felling of forest plantations”. The sanction of this article establishes a maximum penalty of seven years imprisonment.
For three suspects the court selected as a preventive measure in the form of remand in custody, for the rest - a written undertaking of not leaving the place and of proper conduct.
