“In the Irkutsk Region, policemen suppressed the illegal transportation of 115 kilograms of sturgeon caviar, the market value of which, according to preliminary estimates, was 7 million rubles,” said the official representative of the MIA of Russia Irina Volk.
The large batch of fish products was found by traffic police inspectors at the stationary post of the traffic police in the Slyudyansky District in the framework of a joint operational and preventive raid held by the police and the Rosselkhoznadzor in the Irkutsk Region and the Republic of Buryatia.
“When a heavy truck was examined, among numerous packages with fish, the police found 8 boxes of black caviar packed in glass jars and plastic containers with a volume of 0,5 liters. In the documents provided by the 59-year-old driver, there was no information about the transportation of fish delicacy,” said Irina Volk.
It is established that the consignment detained by policemen was transported from Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk to Novosibirsk. The driver was brought to administrative responsibility.
At present, the bodies of inquiry of the MIA of Russia GA for the Irkutsk Region have initiated a criminal case on the grounds of a crime provided for by part 1 of Article 258.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
Officers of the Administration for Economic Security and Combatting the Corruption of the Region are carrying out the necessary operational measures aimed at establishing the channels for the illegal fishing and supply of fish products.
